When Tears Fall 当泪水下落时

What happens when tears fall down so tremendously hard

it hits you hard like a fierce, roaring wave?

As if prickled thorns piercing through your flesh

Shattered glass slicing into your bones

Wild fire raging across the forest, devouring everything in its way

Pure acid scalding your delicate skin

Sharp claws ripping your heart into tiny pieces

You feel nothing but the engulfing pain

Though you fight hard to reason yourself into remaining calm,

Helpless, pitiful chokes and gasps for breath takes control of your body

As the agonizing pain seizes your breath and even soul

The very life force of you is vacuumed from your physical being

You realize it is a meaningless battle

You have no choice but to surrender to this powerful wave of energy

Just as sudden as it hits you

Eventually it drifts away like the tide ebbing away

What’s left is a subtle hint of mellowness floating in your heart

Your breath returns gradually

You are grateful the darkness has left and you vow to remain calmer and

more compassionate towards yourself the next time

This wild beast lies dormant deep within your consciousness

It resides in your heart, peaceful and non-existent

until it is awakened from the next emotional uproar

You let out a relieving sigh as you acknowledge and welcome its presence

Knowing it is there for good reason and purpose,

you give it a voice and your attention, compassion, patience

You learn to become friends with it, little by little, moment by moment
